Why Batman Can’t Beat The Joker πŸƒ
The Dark Knight is nearly twenty years old. I’ve seen it countless times and I know exactly what’s going to happen, but somehow this movie still makes me nervous. From the eerie sound design and score to Heath Ledger’s unpredictable Joker, Christopher Nolan creates a constant feeling that something terrible could happen at any moment. Why The Dark Knight Still Makes Me Nervous πŸƒ
The Dark Knight is nearly twenty years old. I've seen it countless times, I know exactly what's going to happen... and somehow this bloody movie still makes me nervous. Continuing my Batman reviews, I'm revisiting Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (2008), a film that I still consider not only one of the greatest Batman movies ever made, but one of my favourite movies of all time. In this review, I'm talking about Heath Ledger's phenomenal performance as the Joker, Aaron Eckhart's transformation from Harvey Dent into Two Face, Nolan's incredible practical filmmaking, the Tumbler, that opening bank robbery and why the interrogation scene remains one of my favourite movie scenes ever. At the heart of it all is what I love most about The Dark Knight: order versus chaos. Batman is fighting for justice, Joker wants to tear down the natural order of Gotham, and Harvey Dent finds himself caught directly between them. ⭐ Me-Dia Rating: 5/5 What do you think of The Dark Knight? The Dark Knight Is Still Almost Impossible to Beat
I recently found myself just streets away from The Batman Part II filming in Glasgow, watching Gotham come to life with fake snow, Gotham police cars, SWAT vans and even the Batmobile. Naturally, the moment I got home, I had to rewatch The Batman... and I'd forgotten just how incredible this movie is. The Batman Is Even Better Than I Remember
In this review, I take a look at Uncharted (2022), the big screen adaptation of one of gaming's most popular adventure franchises. The Uncharted games are my favourite game series, so when a movie adaptation was finally announced, I was incredibly excited to see Nathan Drake's adventures make the jump from PlayStation to the big screen. But adapting something you already love comes with some pretty high expectations. I Went Looking for THE BATMAN PART II Set… πŸ¦‡
In this review, I take a look at Anaconda, the modern reimagining of the cult creature feature that promised to bring giant snakes back to the big screen. As someone with a genuine phobia of snakes, I was genuinely excited to see what modern visual effects could do with Anaconda. I was hoping for a tense, terrifying survival horror that would have me squirming in my seat. Then I discovered it was a comedy. I break down why the film's tonal shift completely changes the experience, discussing the humour, performances, creature effects, and whether this new direction works. While the updated visuals are a huge improvement over the original, I couldn't help wondering how much scarier this film could have been if it had embraced its horror roots instead. Why Turn Anaconda Into a Comedy? | Anaconda (2025) Review
Following the release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, I revisit Troy (2004) to see whether this historical epic still holds up over 20 years later. After being blown away by The Odyssey, I wanted to go back and see how one of Hollywood's biggest Greek mythology epics holds up over 20 years later. With an all-star cast, huge battle sequences and one of the most famous stories ever told, does Troy still deserve its place among the greatest historical epics? I discuss Brad Pitt's charismatic portrayal of Achilles and Eric Bana's honourable Hector, whose performances remain the heart of the film. I also break down the spectacular battle sequences, the impressive practical production, and why, despite all of its strengths, James Horner's score never quite worked for me and felt like one of the movie's weakest elements.
