I’ll NEVER Stop Buying Physical Media 🎬💿
After Superman gave the new DCU such a promising start, I was really interested to see where Supergirl would take things next. Unfortunately, for me, this feels like a pretty significant step backwards. Milly Alcock is well cast as Kara Zor El and there are definitely things I enjoyed, including some fun action, a great Supergirl suit and Jason Momoa as Lobo. But they're surrounded by a story that I found surprisingly uninteresting, an underwhelming villain and a visual style that didn't do much for me. At times, Supergirl feels like it's trying to capture some of the energy of Guardians of the Galaxy, particularly through its soundtrack and rebellious central character, but it never came close to capturing that same magic for me. In this review, I'm talking about what worked, what didn't, why I think Milly Alcock deserves another chance as Supergirl and why I'm questioning this particular story being chosen as the second movie in the new DCU. ⭐ Me-Dia Verdict: 2.5/5 I really enjoyed Superman, so I went into Supergirl hoping the new DCU could continue that momentum. Primitive War Is Completely Ridiculous 😂🦖
There probably aren’t many films that can be compared to Apocalypse Now AND Jurassic Park. 😂 Primitive War throws soldiers into the Vietnam jungle and then adds dinosaurs into the mix. Primitive War Shouldn’t Work… But It Does 🦖
A Vietnam War movie where American soldiers fight dinosaurs sounds like absolute B movie nonsense... and somehow Primitive War actually works. 🦖 I’ll admit, without all the buzz surrounding this film I probably would have skipped it completely. But I’m glad I didn’t, because Primitive War turned out to be a ridiculously entertaining surprise. The story follows Vulture Squad as they head deep into the Vietnamese jungle searching for a missing platoon, only to discover that something far more prehistoric is waiting for them. It’s violent, cheesy and completely over the top, but it knows exactly what kind of movie it wants to be. Once the dinosaur action really gets going, it barely lets up. Primitive War Is the Dinosaur Movie I Didn’t Know I Needed
Some historical films are at their best when they shine a light on people whose contribution has largely disappeared from popular memory. That’s what made Pressure particularly interesting for me and my family. One of the things Pressure does so well is make something as ordinary as a weather forecast feel incredibly tense.
