👻 HOKUM (2026) REVIEW | A SURPRISINGLY GOOD HORROR MYSTERY! Is Hokum (2026) one of the most underrated horror mysteries of the year, or does its slow burning approach hold it back? Directed by Damian McCarthy, the filmmaker behind Oddity and Caveat, and starring Adam Scott, Hokum takes us to a remote hotel in Ireland where a troubled novelist finds himself caught up in a deeply unsettling mystery. Adam Scott plays Ohm Bauman, a deeply unlikeable writer who travels to Ireland to scatter his parents' ashes at the location of their honeymoon. But after hearing stories about a witch haunting the hotel's honeymoon suite, things take a seriously sinister turn. And when a member of staff mysteriously disappears, Ohm finds himself investigating something far darker than he ever expected. For me, Hokum is a fascinating combination of supernatural horror, psychological tension and murder mystery. It's atmospheric, beautifully shot and features one particular sequence that genuinely had me on edge! But does the rest of the film manage to maintain that same level of terror? ⭐ ME-DIA RATING: 3.5/5 I really enjoyed Hokum. It's a creepy, atmospheric and surprisingly engaging mystery with some genuinely frightening moments. However, I do think its strongest horror sequence sets a standard that the rest of the film never quite reaches. If you're expecting relentless scares from beginning to end, this might not be the film for you. But if you enjoy a slow burning mystery with supernatural elements, there's plenty here to appreciate. My recommendation? Watch this one late at night, with the lights off and absolutely no distractions! 👇 LET'S TALK HORROR! Do you prefer horror movies that deliver constant scares, or do you enjoy a slow burning mystery that gradually builds its atmosphere? And if you've seen Hokum, what did you think of the honeymoon suite sequence? Hokum (2026) Is More Than Just Another Haunted Hotel Movie!
🔥 EVIL DEAD BURN (2026) REVIEW | ABSOLUTE CARNAGE! 🩸 Is Evil Dead Burn (2026) the most brutal film in the entire Evil Dead franchise?! The Deadites are back, and bloody hell, they certainly haven't toned things down! Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, Evil Dead Burn delivers another relentless nightmare filled with gruesome practical effects, horrifying possessions and some of the most inventive kills in the franchise! After giving Evil Dead (2013) a 4.5/5 and Evil Dead Rise (2023) a 4/5, I was desperate to see whether this latest instalment could continue the franchise's incredible run of modern horror movies. And I'm pleased to say it absolutely does! Starring Souheila Yacoub as Alice, Evil Dead Burn explores domestic abuse, grief and family complicity as a horrifying Deadite outbreak transforms an already troubled family gathering into absolute carnage. ⭐ ME-DIA RATING: 4/5 For me, Evil Dead Burn is another bloody brilliant addition to a franchise that just keeps delivering. It might not be quite as frightening as Evil Dead Rise, but when it comes to sheer brutality and inventive violence, this film certainly doesn't hold back! 👇 LET'S TALK EVIL DEAD! Which modern Evil Dead movie is your favourite? 🩸 Evil Dead (2013) 😈 Evil Dead Rise (2023) 🔥 Evil Dead Burn (2026) And would you love to see Mia, Beth and Alice return in a future Evil Dead movie? Evil Dead Burn (2026) Is Absolutely BRUTAL! | Me-Dia
Is Evil Dead Rise (2023) one of the most terrifying horror movies in the franchise?! 🩸💀 After revisiting Evil Dead (2013) and giving it a massive 4.5/5, I'm continuing my Spooky Season reviews with Evil Dead Rise, and bloody hell, this franchise knows how to deliver a nightmare! Directed by Lee Cronin and starring Lily Sullivan and Alyssa Sutherland, Evil Dead Rise takes the franchise out of its familiar cabin in the woods and into a claustrophobic Los Angeles apartment building, where a family finds itself trapped with an unimaginable evil. And while I don't think it quite reaches the brutal heights of the 2013 film, Alyssa Sutherland's performance as the possessed Ellie is absolutely TERRIFYING! It's brutal, disturbing, surprisingly emotional and another fantastic instalment in one of horror's most consistently entertaining franchises! ⭐ ME-DIA RATING: 4/5 💬 LET'S TALK MOVIES! Which film do you prefer, Evil Dead (2013) or Evil Dead Rise? And where would you rank Alyssa Sutherland's Ellie among the franchise's most terrifying Deadites? Is Evil Dead (2013) the best horror remake ever made? And am I completely mad for thinking it's BETTER than Sam Raimi's original Evil Dead trilogy?! 🩸💀 Spooky Season continues at Me-Dia, and today I'm revisiting one of my favourite modern horror films! Directed by Fede Álvarez and starring Jane Levy, Evil Dead (2013) takes the terrifying foundations of Sam Raimi's original films and transforms them into something relentlessly brutal, disturbing and absolutely soaked in blood! I love Bruce Campbell and the original Evil Dead trilogy, but there's something about this version that really works for me. It strips away the franchise's later campy humour and delivers a genuinely nasty horror experience with incredible practical effects. It's not completely flawless, with some underdeveloped supporting characters, but I'd forgotten just how bloody good this movie is! ⭐ ME-DIA RATING: 4.5/5 💬 LET'S TALK MOVIES! Do you prefer Evil Dead (2013) or Sam Raimi's original films? And where would you rank this among the greatest horror remakes ever made? Evil Dead (2013) Is the Best Horror Remake Ever Made?! | Me-Dia
I was SO excited for A Quiet Place: Day One... but this wasn't quite the prequel I was expecting! 🤫👽 After absolutely loving the first two A Quiet Place films, I couldn't wait to see where it all began. I wanted to witness the alien invasion, the chaos and, most importantly, how humanity discovered that staying silent was the only way to survive. Instead, A Quiet Place: Day One takes a much more personal and emotional approach. Directed by Michael Sarnoski and starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn, the film follows two survivors navigating the terrifying streets of New York City during the first day of the invasion. There are some genuinely tense sequences, impressive moments of destruction and fantastic performances. But did this prequel miss an opportunity to explore something much bigger? ⭐ MY VERDICT: 3/5 A Quiet Place: Day One is an enjoyable, emotional horror film with some excellent moments, but for me, it's the weakest of the three films so far. Did you enjoy its more personal story, or were you hoping to see more of humanity's reaction to the invasion?
