Pressure tells the incredible true story of James Stagg, the meteorologist tasked with forecasting the weather ahead of D-Day. It might not sound like the most dramatic premise for a World War II movie, but when thousands of lives depend on whether you get that forecast right, the stakes couldn't be much higher. My dad served in the Royal Air Force and is incredibly knowledgeable about World War II, so my brother and I decided to take him to see Pressure. What surprised me most was discovering afterwards that even he wasn't particularly familiar with James Stagg's story. The Dark Knight Rises Is Flawed… And I Still Love It 🦇
The Dark Knight Rises has its flaws, but I still think it’s an incredible conclusion to one of the greatest superhero trilogies ever made. Following The Dark Knight was never going to be easy, but Christopher Nolan went bigger for the final chapter. Tom Hardy’s Bane gives Batman something completely different from the Joker, an enemy capable of physically breaking him. In this review, I revisit The Dark Knight Rises and discuss Bane, Bruce Wayne’s return as Batman, Michael Caine’s heartbreaking performance as Alfred, the fall of Gotham, that brutal Batman vs Bane fight and why I think pain is the defining theme of the movie. And yes... we need to talk about how Bruce somehow got back into Gotham. 😂 There are problems. Some of the writing isn’t as tight as the previous two movies, parts of the final act stretch credibility and I’m still amazed THAT death scene made the final cut. Why Batman Can’t Beat The Joker 🃏
The Dark Knight is nearly twenty years old. I’ve seen it countless times and I know exactly what’s going to happen, but somehow this movie still makes me nervous. From the eerie sound design and score to Heath Ledger’s unpredictable Joker, Christopher Nolan creates a constant feeling that something terrible could happen at any moment. Why The Dark Knight Still Makes Me Nervous 🃏
The Dark Knight is nearly twenty years old. I've seen it countless times, I know exactly what's going to happen... and somehow this bloody movie still makes me nervous. Continuing my Batman reviews, I'm revisiting Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight (2008), a film that I still consider not only one of the greatest Batman movies ever made, but one of my favourite movies of all time. In this review, I'm talking about Heath Ledger's phenomenal performance as the Joker, Aaron Eckhart's transformation from Harvey Dent into Two Face, Nolan's incredible practical filmmaking, the Tumbler, that opening bank robbery and why the interrogation scene remains one of my favourite movie scenes ever. At the heart of it all is what I love most about The Dark Knight: order versus chaos. Batman is fighting for justice, Joker wants to tear down the natural order of Gotham, and Harvey Dent finds himself caught directly between them. ⭐ Me-Dia Rating: 5/5 What do you think of The Dark Knight?
