James Gunn has been reinstated as director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3!!

Following the resurface of some offensive tweets by Gunn over 10 years ago, Disney quickly fired the writer/director to avoid any backlash stating that Gunn’s tweets were “indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values”.  Outraged fans made their voices heard by starting a ‘re-hire James Gunn’ petition which gathered more than 200,000 signatures which included members of the Guardians cast.

It has now been announced that Gunn has been brought back to finish the Guardians story with his completed script. However, we will need to wait longer than expected as during Gunn’s absence he signed on to direct the sequel to DC’s Suicide Squad. His contract obligations mean he will need to finish work on The Suicide Squad before returning to complete the Guardians story arc.

Despite the delay fans have had their wish granted as many would have felt disconnected from the next instalment without Gunn at the helm.
