In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Neve Campbell has confirmed that Sidney Prescott will once again take center stage in the upcoming “Scream 7.” The beloved actress shared her enthusiasm for returning to the iconic role, explaining the appeal of the new direction the franchise is taking.
Originally, “Scream 7” was set to continue the story of the Carpenter sisters, portrayed by Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. However, the project faced significant changes when Spyglass Media decided to part ways with Barrera in November 2023 due to controversial social media posts related to the Israeli-Hamas conflict. This was followed by Ortega and director Christopher Landon also exiting the film, causing a major shift in the production’s plans.
With these developments, the focus has now shifted back to Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, a move that has excited long-time fans of the series. Speaking about her decision to return, Campbell stated:
“We are going to follow Sidney. They did pitch the concept to me, and it’s the reason that I jumped on board. I love these movies, they are so much fun to be a part of, I’m so grateful for them, I could never have imagined being a part of a movie that would have lasted this many decades.”
Campbell’s return is expected to bring a nostalgic and thrilling element to the film, as she reprises the role that has become synonymous with the “Scream” franchise. Fans eagerly await the next installment, which promises to blend the familiar with fresh, new twists.
