Universal Pictures has officially announced the next thrilling chapter in the iconic Jurassic World franchise, titled “Jurassic World: Rebirth.” Set to hit cinemas next summer, this new era in the enduring series promises to evolve the narrative in an exciting new direction, continuing the legacy of the Jurassic saga that has captivated audiences worldwide.
Official Synopsis from Universal:
‘Three years after the conclusion of the Jurassic World trilogy, which saw each film surpassing $1 billion at the global box office, “Jurassic World: Rebirth” reimagines the beloved franchise. Anchored by a stellar cast including action superstar Scarlett Johansson, breakout talent Jonathan Bailey, and two-time Oscar® winner Mahershala Ali, this action-packed adventure follows an intrepid team on a high-stakes mission to secure DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air.
The film, directed by Gareth Edwards, known for his visually stunning work on “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” is penned by David Koepp, the original screenwriter for Jurassic Park. The narrative takes place five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion,” where the planet’s ecology has become largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The few remaining dinosaurs are confined to isolated equatorial environments that mimic the climates they once thrived in. Within this tropical biosphere, three massive creatures hold the genetic key to a groundbreaking drug with the potential to deliver miraculous life-saving benefits to humanity.
Academy Award® nominee Scarlett Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a highly skilled covert operations expert tasked with leading a top-secret mission to obtain genetic material from these gigantic dinosaurs. The operation takes an unexpected turn when Zora’s team crosses paths with a civilian family whose boating expedition has been derailed by marauding aquatic dinosaurs. Stranded on an uncharted island, they uncover a sinister and shocking secret that has been hidden from the world for decades.
Mahershala Ali portrays Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s trusted team leader, while Jonathan Bailey takes on the role of Dr. Henry Loomis, a dedicated palaeontologist. Emmy nominee Rupert Friend appears as Martin Krebs, a representative of Big Pharma with vested interests in the mission, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked family.’
