Given the overwhelming success of Amazon Prime’s Road House remake, it comes as no surprise that a sequel has been greenlit. The movie garnered over 50 million viewers in its first two weekends alone. Jake Gyllenhaal is slated to return to his role as ‘Dalton,’ the ex-UFC fighter turned bouncer. Despite receiving mixed reviews, there’s a noticeable eagerness to revisit these characters. If Amazon heeds the criticism, they stand poised to produce yet another hit.
While some opinions suggest the sequel should hit cinemas, I respectfully hold a different view. I believe ‘Road House’ aligns perfectly with the streaming service format. It’s the kind of film you can casually enjoy after a taxing day, with a bowl of microwave popcorn, all from the comfort of home, unwinding for a solid two hours.
One element I felt was lacking in the initial film was the presence of Wade Garrett, portrayed by Sam Elliot in the 1989 classic. Introducing this character in the sequel would inject an emotional depth into the narrative, particularly if his fate were to parallel that of the original.
Were you pleased with the Road House remake, and does the announcement of a sequel excite you?
